Celebrity preacher Ebit Lew has once again become a hot topic on social media over several videos of him meeting and helping a homeless woman during his visit to Jakarta, Indonesia.
For context, he uploaded a video of his meetup with the tattooed woman back on 31st May. The woman was seen lying on a piece of cardboard at the side of the street. She was then approached by Ebit, who sat beside her and handed her some money in an effort to reduce her burdens.
From then onwards, Ebit Lew also started posting several videos featuring the homeless woman on his socials. That said, it didn’t take too long before netizens stepped in to uncover her identity. In this case, they discovered that the woman turned out to be Mondy, an influencer with up to 960k followers on TikTok!
As a result, many netizens decided to call out Ebit Lew for using religion to gain popularity. “You used to ‘act’ in Malaysia and Palestine, but now you’re doing it in Indonesia too? Don’t you feel bad using religion for content?” one commenter on Twitter questioned. Meanwhile, Malaysian rapper-entrepreneur Caprice chimed in by saying, “I feel bad for her. She’s sleeping on the roadside wearing a skirt. Fortunately, there’s an ‘ustaz’ who came to her rescue.”
So far, both Ebit Lew and Mondy have yet to break their silence on the matter.
