Some influencers have a bad rep for wanting services from people but have no plans to fork out cash. Instead, they’ll only offer to pay them in exposure for their work despite their financial status.
While these collaborations can attract more people to try out the products or services, they don’t necessarily put food on the table. It seems that netizens are accusing actress Nabila Huda of doing just that after she posted an invitation for collaboration to renovate her new house.
Over the weekend, Nabila Huda excitedly posted on both her Instagram and Twitter that she’s currently in the process of moving into her new house. However, she revealed that the house is still pretty empty, which prompted her to ask if there are any interior design or furnishing company that would be interested in collaborating with her in refurbishing her new home.
“I also need a kitchen cabinet for my cooking show so if anyone is interested, please DM me! I’m so excited!” she wrote. Most of her followers on Instagram congratulated her on getting a new house while a few commented that they’re willing to accept the collaboration offer. However, the same thing cannot be said about her post on Twitter.
The now-deleted tweet received mostly criticism from netizens who accused her of asking for free service. Some questioned her reason of using the word “Collab” when she could simply hire professionals to do the work for her. One netizen even joked that she should “collab” with the popular furnishing company, IKEA.
At the time of writing, Nabila has yet to comment on the backlash she received. The actress did, however, thanked everyone for their interest in collaborating with her on the house project saying, “Ya Allah thank you so much for those who replied and DM-ed, there’s so many of you! This was my first time publicly posting asking for a collab 🥺”.
It’s not every day you’d get this opportunity to work with a celebrity on something. Would you have accepted her invitation to collaborate?
