On 2nd July, local celebrity entrepreneur Aliff Syukri caused a stir when he called out a former minister on a debt owed. Well, Tan Sri Kadir Sheikh Fadzir, former Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture has since come forth to respond to the issue!
Aliff Syukir had taken care to not namedrop during his public callout. However, it seems Tan Sri Kadir has no such qualms. The former minister recently released a public statement about Aliff’s allegations, revealing that he planned to leave the issue to his lawyers.
In a statement to Malaysiakini today (4th July), Tan Sri Kadir Sheikh Fadzir announced that his lawyers would be dealing with Aliff Syukri’s ‘threat’. “I don’t want to go down to their (Aliff Syukri’s) level,” he reportedly told the news outlet. “Now, my lawyer is dealing with the matter.”
The celebrity entrepreneur had not withheld any punches as he went after the former minister, claiming he was owed millions. Still, despite the slight tarnish against his image, Tan Sri Kadir seemingly has no other plans to clear his name. “I won’t comment on people like that. I won’t (call them out),” he said.
Well, we can certainly understand Aliff’s frustration with his debtor. However, we do hope Aliff Syukri and Tan Sri Kadir Sheikh Fadzir will be able to resolve the matter peacefully.
