Earlier this month, medical doctor and influencer Dr. Hana Rose accused her boyfriend – professional footballer Rizal Ghazali – of physically abusing her at the Le Meridien Hotel room in Petaling Jaya.

Dr. Hana previously alleged that her boyfriend hit her on the head, choked her, and bit both her hands before throwing her to the ground. The accused was later arrested by police following the report the same night on 8th June. Yesterday (Monday, 19th June), the Sabah Football Club (FC) defender appeared calm at the Petaling Jaya Magistrate’s court where two charges against him were read aloud to him.

If he is found guilty of the abuse charge, the former national football player can be sentenced to a maximum of one year in prison or a fine of RM2,000 or both. As for the property damage charge, the 31-year-old can be sentenced to three months in prison or a fine or both upon conviction.

The athlete pleaded not guilty on both charges of physically abusing his girlfriend Dr. Hana, real name Hani Farhana Hasrul Sani, in the hotel room 2 weeks ago and also damaging her mobile phone. According to NST, the accused was allowed a reduced bail of RM3,500, and subject to further restrictions put out by the prosecution. The case will be re-mentioned on 24th August later this year.

At the time of writing, neither Rizal Ghazali nor Sabah FC released a statement regarding the recent court session. As for Dr. Hana, she wrote on her IG story, “I leave it all to the court to handle the case. Please pray that justice will be served. I’m staying strong and not giving up”. How do you think this case will turn out?
