The K-pop scene is a melting pot of talent from diverse backgrounds, and this includes those hailing from Thailand. From Lisa of BLACKPINK, with her captivating charm and powerful dance moves, to GOT7’s BamBam, showcasing his mesmerising performances, Thai idols have left an indelible mark on the genre, captivating fans worldwide.
In fact, K-pop idols from Thailand also share a tight-knit bond, displaying a strong sense of friendship as evident through their interactions both on and off the stage. Recently, Minnie from (G)I-DLE, talked about her close bond with her fellow idol friends from the Land of Smiles during her appearance in Eric Nam’s “Daebak Show” on YouTube.
During the session, Eric asked Minnie on whether the Thai K-pop idols keep in touch via a group chat. She then mentioned some of the talented Thai stars, such as Lisa, BamBam, former CLC member Son, NCT’s Ten, and also Nichkhun from 2PM. Minnie shared that they do have a group chat between Thai idols who are about the same age, known as the “태국 (Thai)-line”. “We’re pretty close. We’re kind of the same age. But Nichkhun is kind of a senior, so it’s a little bit far (age gap). But I’ve met him sometimes,” the “Queen Card” singer said.
Minnie also revealed that they’d occasionally spend time eating Thai food and catching up with one another during their free times. When asked if she had a favorite Thai restaurant in Seoul, the 25-year-old K-pop star hilariously revealed that she had recommended a restaurant so frequently that it had backfired. According to her, she hasn’t been able to visit the restaurant in a while because there is usually a long line that requires at least a 2-hour wait.
