For most, family is still family, regardless of what happens. However, Chinese actress Yang Mi (杨幂) seemingly thinks otherwise, especially when it comes to her ex-husband Hawick Lau (劉愷威) and their daughter Noemi, nicknamed Little Sticky Rice (小糯米).
Yang Mi and Hawick Lau divorced in 2018, but, it seems things haven’t gotten much better since then. While Hawick has been devotedly looking after their daughter, Yang Mi is apparently focused on work. In fact, despite recently being in the area, she reportedly still hasn’t met up with her daughter, even though it’s been three years!
On 1st June, netizens were delighted to find Yang Mi’s IP address placing her squarely in Hong Kong where Hawick and their daughter live, together with Hawick’s parents. Many assumed the actress was in the area to see her daughter, especially since it was her daughter’s birthday.
However, Hawick Lau’s response to Hong Kong media about the matter indicated otherwise. “She (Our daughter) has to go to school today, and now I send her to school everyday and pick her up after. (Since we’re) getting up early tomorrow morning, tonight is a family meal,” he reportedly said.
This isn’t the first time Yang Mi has allegedly visited Hong Kong but has not seen her daughter. She reportedly visited Hong Kong in early March this year with her parents. Netizens again assumed she was there to see her daughter, however, that was apparently disproven when her former father-in-law claimed: “I haven’t seen (Yang Mi).”
On the bright side, Hawick has reportedly been keeping their nine-year-old daughter happy. He explained that as she is very interested in looking pretty, he’s been making homemade jewelry for her. “She’s also very clingy, she wants me to sleep with her every night,” he shared.
Yang Mi previously mentioned that she was no longer interested in finding a romantic partner. But apparently, she too has seemingly given up on her familial relationships. However, fans have previously argued that she might simply be keeping her meets with her daughter private.
