Malaysian-born tattoo artist Kinki Ryusaki (卢恺棋) has always been a brave soul, one willing to walk her own path. While it has led her down some rocky roads, Kinki has always walked out triumphant. And it seems, she recently celebrated overcoming another obstacle in her life.

Fans will know that Kinki is married, and moved to China to open a tattoo shop with her husband. However, it seems trouble has been going on behind the scenes and after several years, Kinki finally hit her limit. As such, on 15h June, Kinki was delighted to announce to her followers that she was officially single once more!

I am finally divorced!” the famed tattoo artist exclaimed. “I’m finally free!” Kinki explained that she has been living a good life since the divorce and has been busy looking after herself and her daughter. “We women can also live a good single life with children,” she added, encouraging more women to walk away from a marriage if all it brought them was despair. “Widowed parenting is not as good as a family with a single parent.

Kinki later shared that she had been struggling with her abusive husband, which had apparently started as soon as they were married. “As everyone knows, there was no wedding gift, no wedding photos and (our) child was born without a wedding,” she said. Her ex-husband had also forbidden her from undergoing confinement, going as far as to “drive the confinement (woman) away”. He also claimed awards she had won at tattoo exhibitions as his own which irritated her.

Unfortunately, things got much worse. Kinki’s ex-husband allegedly physically abused her in front of family and friends before and after her pregnancy. “At that time, I had already wanted to divorce him, but I am a public figure. I couldn’t show negative emotions on the internet,” she said.  Her husband had also blatantly told her “Chinese police wouldn’t care about the domestic violence as it is a family matter“.

Although her six year marriage with her ex-husband 关小鹏 (transliteration: Guan Xiao Peng) ended on a sour note, Kinki Ryusaki seems determined to keep living her best life as usual. “After leaving, you will find that life is full of hope everywhere,” she said optimistically.

Currently, it seems as though Kinki Ryusaki has set up shop in Malaysia and is continuing her passion for tattooing. Her ex-husband has not responded to news of the divorce, but his last post on his socials was on 13th June, showing off his own tattoo work.
