K-pop fans were eagerly anticipating the Megacon Kpop Mega Concert, which was scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 27th. The concert promised performances from popular Korean artists like Super Junior, Viviz, and Teen Top, along with singer Ribbon Ooi (黄若熙) and DJ Noize Faktor. However, concert organizers Starex Global dropped a bombshell earlier this morning, announcing that the concert has been cancelled. This news has left fans and even local artist Ribbon Ooi disappointed.

The announcement was made on all Starex Global social media platforms at 12.49am. It stated, “Dear participants, we regret to inform you that the Megacon Kpop Mega Concert, which was scheduled to be held on May 27th, 2023 at Surf Beach, Sunway Lagoon, Kuala Lumpur, has been forced to be cancelled due to flight ticket issues for the Korean artists.” Starex Global assured fans that they would be issuing refunds and asked for patience as they initiated the process. This cancellation marks the second time the concert has failed to take place, as it was previously postponed from February 18th to May 27th.

Ribbon Ooi also took to her social media accounts to express her disappointment shortly after the announcement was made. She revealed that less than 40 hours before the concert, her agency was contacted by the organizers and informed of the cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances. Ribbon expressed her sadness and shared that she and her team had been training hard for the performance. She had been hyping up her fans on social media in the days leading up to the event.

Ribbon also mentioned that the earlier postponement was attributed to a schedule or visa issue involving one of the Korean groups. She was not as upset about the delay at the time, as she saw it as an opportunity to improve her performance. Unfortunately, the cancellation of the concert has disrupted all plans, as her parents had already bought plane tickets and her friends were planning to visit her on that day. Ribbon expressed her sadness and confusion about what exactly happened.

Despite the disappointment, Ribbon gave the organizers the benefit of the doubt. She acknowledged that there may be more to the situation and mentioned that she had already received payment for the performance. As of now, she does not know the specifics of what occurred and believes it is not important to discuss at this time.

Ribbon concluded her message by expressing her hope to meet her fans on another stage in the future. The article ends by offering sympathies to all those who were left disappointed and hopes that fans will receive their refunds promptly so they can save up for another concert.
