Tan Sri Dato Michelle Yeoh has certainly reached new heights in her career and she’s not stopping anytime soon. After winning multiple prestigious awards including an Academy Award for her role in “Everything Everywhere All At Once”, the Ipoh-born actress has made history once again!
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce recently announced on social media 30 the biggest entertainment professionals that will be honoured with a star on the iconic Hollywood Walk Of Fame, class of 2024. Among those professionals is Malaysia’s very own Michelle Yeoh!
After making history by being the first Malaysian and Asian to win the Best Actress award at the 95th Academy Awards, the 60-year-old will be receiving her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! It was reported that all entertainers were chosen from among hundreds of nominations at a meeting back earlier this month.
“The committee, comprising distinguished Walk of Famers, meticulously handpicks people each year who represent various genres within the entertainment industry,” said Ellen K, the chair of the selection panel. She also added, “We can’t wait to see each honoree’s reaction as they realize that they are becoming a part of Hollywood’s history with the unveiling of their star on the world’s most famous walkway!”
The official dates for the star unveiling are yet to be revealed. While Michelle has yet to give her comment on her induction to the Hollywood Walk of Fame, she has reposted the wonderful news on both her Instagram feed and Stories, as seen in the screenshots below:
Other stars that were selected in the Motion Pictures category include:
- Chadwick Boseman, famously known for Marvel’s “Black Panther”, who passed away in 2020 from cancer
- Chris Pine, best known for his roles as James T. Kirk in the “Star Trek” reboot film series
- Kevin Feige, primary producer for the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise since 2007
- Chris Meledandri, producer for “Ice Age”, “Despicable Me”, and “Sing”
- Gal Gadot, famously known for her role as “Wonder Woman” in the DC Extended Universe
- Christina Ricci, known for her as Wednesday in “The Addams Family” film franchise in the 90s
- Maggie Gyllenhaal, known for her role in “Donnie Darko” and “Nanny McPhee”
