    Hong Kong actress Shirley Yeung (杨思琦) first rose to fame when she became Miss Hong Kong in 2001. Since then, she’s been living a fairly peaceful life with her two kids while growing her career in China. However, her latest playful act inadvertently upset some of her fans.

    Shirley Yeung recently attempted the viral song and dance “Little Garden (小小花园)”, made popular by Teacher Huang (黄老师). While it was done out of fun, netizens apparently didn’t agree. Several criticised her actions, with one even asking her to preserve the reputation of Miss Hong Kong!

    For those not in the know, “Little Garden” is a children’s song which comes with actions. It’s been trending on social media with various celebrities putting their own spin on the dance. Well, it wasn’t too surprising to discover that Shirley had jumped on the bandwagon. However, few were expecting the negative reaction that she received.

    The 44-year-old actress wore a white dress which showed off her bare midriff. It also inadvertently showed the skin-coloured bra she was wearing. While doing the dance, Shirley attempted to exaggerate her actions and expressions to make herself look cute. However, according to netizens, it had the opposite effect.

    Several were thrown off by her visible underwear, with some remarking that she was wearing a “bra for grandmothers” while others admitted they mistook the bra for stretch marks. A few netizens also called her out for acting “childish”. “Don’t you feel embarrassed?” one asked, while another said: “Don’t pretend to be cute at (your) age.” One even commented: “Please maintain the image of Miss Hong Kong.

    Well, Shirley Yeung has yet to respond to the criticisms. But, on the bright side, it did look like she was having fun with the dance! Time will tell if she’ll ever attempt another online trend, but in the meantime, feel free to enjoy her rendition of “Little Garden”.
