When it comes to concert setlists, artists put a lot of thought into which songs to perform to accommodate their fans’ wants and showcase any of their recent releases. While they have the power to take away any tracks, it’s never easy for the artist or the fans. However, for legendary rock band Muse, removing a song from their concert setlist was more of a show of respect.
The English band will perform this weekend at Bukit Jalil National Stadium as part of the Malaysian leg of their “Will Of The People World Tour”. Just a few days before the show, the band revealed to have voluntarily removed one song from their setlist. The song removal to ensure the concert set is in line with local guidelines and customs.
According to Adam Ashraf from Hello Universe, the organiser for the band’s Malaysian concert, the call to remove the song was after the coverage of the incident involving rock band The 1975 at the Good Vibes Festival 2023 went global. The setlist is also not the first change to the upcoming concert because the venue was moved from the original Bukit Kiara Equestrian Resort to the current Bukit Jalil National Stadium after the Hello Universe team received feedback from fans.
This Malaysian concert will also be the only Asian leg of the world tour and is the second time the English band will perform here, with their last show being back in 2007. Muse members were also recently seen in Langkawi, vacationing with family before their performance.
It’s nice to hear that a legendary band like Muse respects the local guidelines – and we hope fans will still enjoy the show despite the change.
