Sandara Park Once Had Her Phone Confiscated By YG Because Of G-Dragon

Former 2NE1 member Sandara Park (박산다라) continues to spill juicy details about her time as an active idol under YG Entertainment. This time, she recounted an unusual story involving her former labelmate, G-Dragon, (지드래곤), leaving fans curious to know more about their unique connection.

Dara recently appeared in the variety show “Salty Pawn Shop”. All of the celebrity guests – including Dara – each brought a special object to “pawn” and told amusing anecdotes about it. She took out an old flip phone that she had actually used way back in in the year 2009.

One of the MCs quickly recognised the model and recalled that 2NE1 had promoted it in a commercial with the BIGBANG members that year. Dara herself admitted that it was the same phone that they had done an ad for. However, she then revealed that she had the phone taken away, and it’s all thanks to GD!

“We did an advertisement for this cellphone, and actually used it back then,” the “Fire” singer said. “I was quite famous among male celebrities at that time. That’s why I received many calls from different people, but I didn’t tell the boss. Even when I received calls from men, I ignored them and didn’t reply.”

She then added, “But one day, a man got frustrated so he met G-Dragon and complained, saying ‘Dara ‘noona’ (older sister) doesn’t contact me’. GD told me that he felt good upon hearing that. We (2NE1) were the first girl group YG produced, and we were proud of it.”

“He was pleased to learn that his noona avoided that individual and bragged to his coworkers about it,” Dara told the MCs. “But eventually, the news reached the boss (Yang Hyun Seok). He assumed I was contacting some guys and took away my phone. I had to go without a phone for a few months.”

After hearing this, the hosts couldn’t help but to wonder whether the “Fantastic Baby” rapper talks a lot, because his look suggests otherwise. She added, “Although 2NE1 members are older than him, G-Dragon took great care of us because we were the first junior group that debuted after BIGBANG. He was that much interested in us, so he even paid attention to the behind stories about us. He took very good care of us.”
