At a young age, we were taught to offer our seats to the elderly, pregnant women, or handicapped whenever we see them on public transport. This heartwarming gesture is truly really touching to see, and it should be practiced throughout all ages.
Recently, Taiwanese actress, Sabrina Pai (白家绮), wanted to relive her teenage years by taking the subway system since she had the time. On the train, she came across, what appeared to be, a pregnant lady and immediately stood up and offered her seat to her. What she thought to be a kind gesture turned out to be an embarrassing story instead.
On 12th June 2023, Sabrina posted a photo of her to her Facebook and shared an embarrassing story. In the post, she mentioned that she has not ridden the MRT for a long time so she decided to do so since she had free time that day. During her ride, she saw a ‘pregnant’ lady entering her coach, so she did what a good citizen would – offer her seat to the ‘expecting’ woman.
Turns out, it was a huge misunderstanding! “She WAS NOT a pregnant woman. I’m really really sorry!” the beauty wrote. She even added the hashtags #IReallyWantToDigAHoleAndBuryMyselfInIt and #ItWasntOnPurpose to show how embarrassed and ashamed she was.
After the actress’ post went live, it gained a lot of attention from netizens. Netizens started commenting one after another under the post. A couple of netizens comforted Sabrina saying that it was fine since she had good intentions behind her actions while others found the situation humourous.
- “It’s okay, you had good intentions.”
- “This is actually extremely embarrassing!”
- “We’re humans, we make mistakes. Don’t worry about it too much, you were polite and courteous. Just pay more attention next time.”
- “As long as you have a good heart, that’s what matters.”
Even though it turned out to be a misunderstanding, we applaud Sabrina for her kind gesture. Have you ever had a similar experience?
