Some people don’t know how to react to receiving compliments. But, that doesn’t necessarily mean they hate it. Compliments are a great way to boost one’s confidence about their skills, looks, and achievements. However, we’ve all received some backhanded compliments once in our lives.

Celebrities and influencers are no different. Recently, Ceddy Ang, famously known as @CeddyOrNot, posted a video on what he really thinks about the so-called “compliments” he’s been hearing from others.

Over the weekend, Ceddy Ang tweeted about a backhanded compliment he received recently. According to the food reviewer, the person apparently commented on his weight and appearance. “You think I’m gonna thank you for saying that I look slimmer? No, shut up and stop commenting on anyone’s weight, whether the person gained or lost weight, we all have mirrors at home. Don’t be a busybody,” he wrote.

The tweet was then followed by a video which he posted on all his social media platforms. In the video, the business owner asked his followers to share the worst backhanded compliments they’ve received before sharing his own. “The (one) I always get is “Ceddy, you look skinnier in person than in your videos” and I don’t know how to react to that,” he said. The content creator proceeded to demonstrate how different angles change one’s physical appearance on camera.

Not long after posting the video, many of Ceddy’s followers commented that they agree with his statement and shared the remarks they received that were disguised as compliments. Here are some of those replies:

While we understand that some people really do mean well with their “compliments”, it’s better to keep the compliments or praises short, simple, and to the point. Always mind your words as they can leave a mark on someone’s life.
