Nowadays, K-pop artists would go on TikTok and invite fans to participate in a dance challenge for their song as a fun way to promote the new release. We’ve also seen them doing these challenges with fellow K-pop idols, much to the excitement of fans.
Apart from dance challenges, boyband MIRAE (미래소년) also posted videos of them vibing to their new song “JUMP!” on TikTok but one post got fans wondering how it was approved in the first place. Watch:
Since last week, MIRAE has been posting short TikTok videos of each member cutely vibing to the group’s new single but the video posted yesterday (Thursday, 17th July) got taken down after fans pointed out how suggestive it was. The reposted video above first showed a hand doing a questionable movement from underneath what appears to be a pair of jeans.
The camera then panned to reveal member Siyoung (시영) sitting on top of a pile of jeans as he took out his hand from underneath the piece of clothing. The rest of the video, however, was normal as the idol was just seen dancing to the uptempo track before throwing the jeans into the air. Before it was removed, the TikTok post apparently garnered over 1 million views.
The post then went viral on both TikTok and Twitter with fans pointing out how the movement in the video looked as if someone was masturbating. Some were not surprised that the boyband went viral for something like this while others were questioning the staff’s approval for the post.
At the time of writing, neither MIRAE nor their agency, DSP Media have given comments on the viral TikTok post. After the original was taken down, so far, there has been no updated reshot promo video that features Siyoung.
Hopefully next time, they’ll be more careful in what they choose to post on their social media.
