We’ve been getting a lot of Mat Rempit news lately, like the one about the food delivery rider or the one that failed his stunt attempt. However, we rarely see clips of a female rider participating in dangerous motorcycle stunts, until now! Earlier this week, a clip of a Minah Rempit (the female equivalent of Mat Rempit) went viral and got tons of people talking about it – even local comedian Harith Iskander.

Taking to social media, the comedian reposted the viral clip of the female motorcyclist performing the dangerous “Superman” stunt, where one rides the motorcycle while lying on the seat, flat on their stomach. In the clip, the Minah Rempit was recklessly zigzagging on a highway believed to be the PLUS Expressway.

In his caption, Harith joked about the female Rempit, or “frempit” for short, saying, “These women prove that being stupid and reckless is not just a man’s thing.” The 56-year-old also shared the clip on his Twitter with the caption, “Glad to know that acting idiotically, recklessly and with brainless disregard is not just a male-dominated sport.

Many netizens also reacted to the clip with most, criticising the rider’s dangerous actions. One commenter chimed in, saying that stunts like these are not treated as seriously as a drunk driving case despite being as dangerous and reckless. Another added that the rider doesn’t only put herself in danger but also endangers the other road users around her. However, there were also jokes about the clip being an example of gender equality, proving that women can do what a man does.

After the clip went viral, the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) released a statement regarding the Minah Rempit in the clip and is urging anyone with additional information to reach out to help with investigations.

    Update (Thursday, 13th July)

Following the viral video and the call from authorities, the group of Minah Rempit have turned themselves in. A video of their reactions to being fined has been circulating on social media, enraging netizens as the riders show no remorse for their actions, proudly showing off their fines while laughing. In response to the video, netizens called for authorities to impose heavier punishments for similar offences in the future.
