From one Ken doll to another, “Barbie” star Ryan Gosling sparked a frenzy online with his unexpected shoutout to Jimin (지민) from BTS ahead of the worldwide premiere of the movie.
For context, the Hollywood actor rocked a Western-style ensemble look in one scene in the movie. Fans of BTS noticed the cowboy attire right away, this is because Ryan wore the same outfit as Jimin in the group’s “Permission To Dance” music video!
Following the discovery, Ryan has since apologised to the K-pop idol for “copying his style”. The Canadian heartthrob appeared in in a special video shared on the Barbie movie’s official social media channels, where he introduced himself to Jimin before mentioning that the two of them had donned the same outfit.
“Hi Jimin, it’s Ryan Gosling here. I notice that your ‘Permission to Dance’ outfit is the same as my Ken outfit in the upcoming movie Barbie. I have to give it to you — you wore it first. You definitely wore it best,” the “La La Land” actor said. “(And) there’s an unspoken Ken code that if you bite another Ken’s style, you have to give them your most prized possession.”
Additionally, Ryan also offered Jimin a special gift from the “Barbie” film in hopes to make amends with the “Set Me Free” singer. The Hollywood star said, “I hope you’ll accept Ken’s guitar as my humble offering. Besides, Ken doesn’t really play anyway, so…it’ll be much better in your hands.”
