Movie premiere red carpet events are always exciting as you’d get to see some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry attending the premiere in their best outfits. However, it seems many disapproved of inviting stars if they have nothing to do with the movie.

During the premiere of “Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One” at Lalaport BBCC, netizens were confused as to why local celebs and influencers attended the event despite not even being in the movie. One influencer had something to say about the nasty comments.

For context, over the weekend, Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) held a red-carpet premiere event for the latest installement of the “Mission Impossible” franchise starring Tom Cruise at Lalaport BBCC. The event was attended by many familiar faces such as actors Zizan Razak, Jaa Suzuran, and Syazwan Nazri, and influencers like Chi Howe, Seth Ang, Cabibibi, and DJ Jovynn.

Official photos of the star-studded night were posted on the GSC Instagram account where many, unfortunately, left some unkind remarks about the attendees. Netizens expressed that they do not understand the significance of inviting local talents to a premiere event. Some were disappointed that the actual star of the movie Tom Cruise did not make an appearance and even sarcastically asked who the attendees were.

Chi Howe, one of the content creators who attended that night, had something to say about the uncalled-for comments. The public figure commented on GSC’s IG post saying, “To all those stupid comments saying ‘Only Mediocre’, why so much hate on local influencers & actors? So much for supporting our own locals 😭”.

He also posted an IG story (which was also shared on GSC’s story) to elaborate on his point. “You always complain why local productions are bad but do you even support our local talents? Do you know their journey from the very beginning? Or do we only wait until our talents go international for us to finally claim them?” he wrote. Despite his efforts to defend his fellow entertainers, netizens still disagreed that local influencers are not worth inviting to these kinds of red-carpet events.
