Melaka, one of the most famous tourist sites in Malaysia, is rich in culture, history, and traditions. From the stunning beaches to the famous gastronomic delights for which people travel to from far and wide, the city is a tourist magnet. And there are always new cafes and hang-out spots cropping up in various areas of the old town, waiting to be discovered.
While Melaka is famous for its heritage, there have been a number of beautiful cafés springing up all over town in recent years, many of which have gone viral on social media. Each with its own individuality and flair, these cafes give you a peek into all that’s unique about Melaka. From rustic cafes to modern and minimalistic eateries, here are 5 of Melaka’s most Instagrammable cafés that also offer a variety of delicious eats!

The rustic cafe invites visitors with its cozy and relaxing ambience, with art pieces showcased around the space. At Locahouz, they serve traditional local favourites, as well as delicious western delicacies. Every corner of this old shop-lot-turned-cafe is decorated with something fashionably old and new – so it’s definitely a great place to take some Instagram-worthy shots. Plus, it’s pet-friendly! So you can bring your fur-babies along and chill out at their cafe.

The Daughter @Vintage Green Cafe

They describe themselves as a cafe of vintage items and collectibles, so while you sip on your aromatic cup of latte, you can discover the many trinkets and treasures hidden within the quaint shop. The old books and old-timey feel of the environment make it a super Instagrammable spot. It’s also a great dating spot for couples who share a love for vintage reads!

Birdcage Cafe
Another hidden gem in Melaka, Birdcage Cafe rose to popularity thanks to their amazing cakes. They only welcome small groups of people, as it’s a tiny cafe situated in the bustling downtown of Malacca. It’s not guaranteed that you’ll get a spot, since the place is usually packed, especially during the weekends, so just make sure to go early, and check their Instagram page for their operating hours before you visit! If the shutter of the shop is closed, it means it’s closed, so better keep your eyes peeled for that. The menu will depend on what is available on the day, with friendly prices. Their most famous cakes include their strawberry torte, mango pavlova, scones, and their butter cake. While the place sounds quite exclusive, it’s still worth the wait. There’s a reason why people keep coming back for more!
