Hong Kong actor and actress, Hugo Ng (吴岱融) and Lily Chung (钟淑慧), have constantly shared with netizens about their love for Malaysian food. Since forever ago, the couple have been regular visitors of Malaysia. They have always been seen around Malaysia savouring good food and travelling about the country.
Recently, the power couple was in Malaysia to announce the opening of a new kopitiam (coffee shop) named ‘9 Kopitiam’ (九号乐居咖啡馆). The both of them were investors and ambassadors for the coffee shop and looked forward to open a branch here in Malaysia.
Hugo and Lily became bosses of this kopitiam in hopes to share their love of Malaysian food with others. During a Parents’ Day event to celebrate the opening of this new coffee shop, Hugo exclaimed his love for the Malaysian cuisine in a Malaysian accent, “The food here is delicious!”
Meanwhile, the actress shared that she has always been interested in Malaysian delicacies. “I would call myself a Malaysian. Actually, my parents are Sabahan, but later we immigrated to Hong Kong, the place I grew up in.” When asked about how much the couple have invested into the coffee shop, the two of them just laughed and said, “We invested our sincerity and bellies.”
9 Kopitiam is located in EKO Cheras Mall on the second floor. According to Hugo, the loving couple would be visiting the coffee shop occasionally to promote the shop. If you’re lucky, you might even meet the HK actor and actress themselves in the flesh when paying the shop a visit.
