Last week, we got to indulge in a lavish afternoon tea at W Kuala Lumpur, courtesy of their new Teassentials afternoon tea collaboration with multi-label luxury beauty boutique, escentials. Known as a space “Of all things beautiful”, escentials carries a range of luxury beauty brands such as Amouage, Acqua di Parma, Bvlgari, Penhaligon’s and more. A chic and elegant experience, the Teassentials afternoon tea set is ideal for sophisticated folks.
The afternoon tea set is inspired by the fragrance families of escentials: Floral (fruity, floral), Fresh (citrus), Oriental (herbal, spicy), and Woody (aromatic scents). It combines the essence of various fragrance families and is presented in a pastel colour palette for an elegant appeal. With an array of handcrafted cakes, sweet treats, and savoury bites, this exquisite offering is sure to delight and pamper guests.
Conceptualised by Hasnizam Hamzah, Executive Chef of W Kuala Lumpur and Sous Chef Suhalmi Md. Tasir, the line-up balances rich local ingredients with a modern, sophisticated and refreshing lightness. Sit back and relax as we take you through everything we tasted at W KL.
To start off the afternoon, we were presented with a three-tiered stand which was topped with sweet and savoury delights. We got to get a taste of the Mini Slider, Duck Patties, Caramelized Ginger, Szechuan Hoisin; Spiced Lamb Pie; Keladi Rice Puff, Smoked Cod Mousse, Pink Peppercorn and Wild Mushroom, Truffle Arachini. As for the sweeter options, we were served with some delectable moreish scones, Rose Lychee Gateaux; Citrus Meringue Tart, Licorice Noir Chocolate Rocher, and Matcha Jasmine Choux.
While most of the treats were desserts, they offer more filling and savoury options for those who prefer salty over sweet. One treat that stood out from the rest would be the Keladi Rice Puff topped with Smoked Cod Mousse and some wild mushrooms. Crispy and creamy, the mouse and the rice puff perfectly complimented each other. As for the desserts, each flavour stood out in its own way, without it being to sweet or overpowering.
Our favourite savoury treat would be the Mini Sliders, since they were the perfect starter to boost our appetite thanks to the caramelized ginger. As for the sweeter delights, it would have to be the Matcha Jasmine Choux, since it had just the right amount of matcha and sweetness; and the Licorice Noir Chocolate Rocher, which was incredibly rich in flavour and is basically a chocolate lover’s dream. Customers will also have the option to choose any two items from the trolley Paxion Bon Bon; Red Velvet Rasberry Macaron; Orange Yuzu Travel Cake; Lemon Cured Salmon Mini Bagels and Smoked Chicken Sandwich.
Overall, the food was exceptional, as well as the environment which elevated our dining experience. We would recommend this to anyone who’s looking to relax in an aesthetically pleasing environment while also enjoying some delectable delicacies for their afternoon break.
Available from now to 23rd April 2023, you can try out the Teassentials afternoon tea set from 3pm-5pm daily at RM168 nett per person (for dine in) inclusive of one (1) welcome drink. Also available for delivery (RM198 nett per person).
