Best mobile prepaid plans for the budget-conscious as of June 2023

Wait, what do you mean half the year is over? Yup, June is almost over, and we’re back with our monthly compilations. It’s been a quiet month for telcos, but we did tweak our list for this month for the few changes that did happen. Anyway, here’s our list of the best mobile prepaid plans for the budget-conscious as of June 2023.

Best prepaid options under RM30

For under RM30/month, the options for Malaysians remain largely the same. The U Mobile Pakej Perpaduan plan no longer has that extra 10GB of data, which is too bad. Moreover, there were no new promos or price changes.

As such, the most affordable prepaid plan is still the Digi NEXT 15 (RM20/month). For alternatives, we suggest the Hotlink Streaming plan (RM25/month) since it’s known to have a reliable network. But if you don’t need high-speed data, the Yes Prepaid FT5G Unlimited is a great option if you need 12GB of wireless hotspot data to work on the go.

Best prepaid options under RM60

Now, the RM60/month category does have some changes. So let’s see what’s different this time around.

First, Hotlink now has a new “Internet and Hotspot” plan. It offers 40GB of high-speed Internet, plus hotspot for border roaming within selected SEA countries. Also, the Hotlink Pantas promo with bonus data of 20GB ends on 30 June 2023. So if you like having plenty of data, grab it before the month ends. Lastly, the Celcom Xpax Unlimited plans no longer offer free RM5 TnG eWallet credits or an extra 5GB of data for signing up at a Celcom Bluecube store.

As you can see, June 2023 has been a mostly quiet month. That’s something we expected since there were no major festivities this month. But we’ll also upload our monthly list of mobile postpaid and home fibre plans next, so keep an eye out for those.
