It’s been a long time coming but the MRT Putrajaya Line Phase 1 will be opening very soon. Previously, the project was actually expected to open some time in November of last year but operation was apparently delayed.

But the wait will soon be over as Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) recently announced that the Putrajaya Line Phase 1 will be launching on 16th June of this year. Before we step into this new phase, here’s all we know about the project:

As seen in the tweet above, MRT Corp released a media statement in July 2021 announcing that the Putrajaya Line Phase 1 is expected to be operational in November later that year. However, the project was then postponed (for the second time) due to incomplete activities during the trial operations.

MRT Corp posted on their official Facebook yesterday (Tuesday, 24th May) sharing the news that the long awaited Putrajaya Line Phase 1 will finally open on 16th June. There will be a total of 36 stations involved for this line but only 12 will be open for Phase 1 which are:

    1. Kwasa Damansara (MRT Kajang Line interchange)
    2. Kampung Selamat
    3. Sungai Buloh (KTM Port Klang interchange)
    4. Damansara Damai
    5. Sri Damansara Barat
    6. Sri Damansara Sentral
    7. Sri Damansara Timur (KTM Port Klang interchange)
    8. Metro Prima
    9. Kepong Baru
    10. Jinjang
    11. Sri Delima
    12. Kampung Batu (KTM Seremban interchange)

Based on previously released information, the soon-to-be launched Putrajaya Line will provide MRT passengers a seamless transfer to the MRT Kajang Line at Kwasa Damansara station. In terms of public transportation, feeder buses and GoKL buses will be available at Kampung Batu station.

Once Phase 1 is in full swing and if all goes according to schedule, Phase 2 is expected to operate some time in January of 2023. For more information on the Putrajaya Line project, you can visit the MRT Corp website. Are you guys looking forward to the opening of the new Putrajaya Line?
