Singapore is in the midst of preparations for visitors return, Malaysians included, with a fresh new look. Singapore has recorded more than 540,000 visitors from around the world, 45,560 from Malaysia, between January to April this year, making Malaysia the 3rd largest source market for Singapore as of now. With the borders reopened, the numbers are expected to increase together with the travel demand.

Currently, direct flights to Singapore are operating in 7 cities within Malaysia—Ipoh, Kota Kinabalu, Kuala Lumpur, Kuching, Langkawi, Miri and Penang. The Singapore Tourism Board (STB), being the lead development agency for tourism, has launched their international campaign called SingapoReimagine with the purpose of reviving the tourism industry as well as spark the passion to travel.

SingapoReimagine displays a variety of experiences involving new attractions, novel dining concepts, wellness retreats and sustainable experiences along with Singapore’s upcoming events that include:

    • Inaugural 10-day Wellness Festival with activities to encourage hollistic well-being commencing from 3rd to 12th June 2022.
    • The annual event, Singapore Food Festival 2022, that celebrates new flavours and love for food in late August.
    • Singapore Grand Prix 2022 (Singapore F1 2022) that will host the race for the 17th round of the Formula 1 Championship from 30th September to 2nd October.

STB Malaysia is also collaborating with partners for their campaign to boost their visitor count. Mandai Wildlife Reserve is to offer a 33% discount on the admission tickets to its wildlife parks—Singapore Zoo, Night Safari and Jurong Bird Park exclusively for Malaysians using a promo code called MY33OFF, valid from the 1st to 30th June 2022.

Airasia Super App has plans to launch a campaign across Southeast Asia as STB signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Airasia in February this year.

STB has also collaborated with ShopBack—an e-commerce company—on the ‘Singapore is Calling’ initiative that involved travel merchants such as Agoda and Booking.com for users to enjoy a 15% upsized cashback for bookings for Singapore on these platforms.
