    This Chinese New Year, not only are people wishing to be blessed with good fortune and happiness, but many are also hoping to hear the tiger roar scare away the negativity in our lives.

    So, before returning to your family for new years’ reunion, you might be contemplating what gifts to bring. Other than pre-ordering items online, you might want to head over to shopping malls to browse for reunion gifts. While you’re at it, why not enjoy the CNY decorations put up by shopping malls?

    So, here’s a list of shopping malls with Instaworthy decorations:

    1) Pavilion Kuala Lumpur

    Pavilion Kuala Lumpur brings you “Blooms of Prosperity” that exhibits the traditional Chinese art of paper cutting, by Master Chen Xiao (陈晓), an international award-winning modern origami artist. Witness the 30-foot Pavilion Paper Art Garden that represents the five elements tiger in four different seasons setting.

    2) Sunway Pyramid

    Sunway Pyramid is wishing their shoppers all the good fortune for the year. Up until the 13th of February, Sunway Pyramid will be donned with red lanterns and bright red traditional Chinese structures, with 福 (Fú), adorning the main centrepiece. Encouraging a safe celebration, shoppers are provided with a QR code for them to send a customised Chinese New Year greetings to their family and loved ones. Not only that, after scanning, they will also be given e-vouchers to redeem from various outlets in the mall!

    3) Da Men Mall USJ

    In Da Men Mall, you can feel the harmony blossom throughout the whole shopping mall beautiful wisterias and red lanterns hanging overhead. Not only that, but there’s also the “Roaring Bazaar” that lasts until 30th January where you can find decorations, handicrafts, and unique snacks.

    4) Intermark Mall

    Intermark Mall has also decided to dive deep into the Chinese heritage with their theme of “Opera Opulence” that features festive oriental decorations and cutouts of graceful opera artists. You can also see collections of traditional opera incorporated into fashion with designs, symbols and colours representing the Chinese opera character archetypes.

    5) IPC Shopping Centre

    This new year, IPC Shopping Centre’s theme of “The Year of the Woohoo: Five Blessings at Your Doorstep” is inspired by the “Wu Hu Jiang” or “Five Tiger Generals”. IPC brings you 5 core blessings; Abundance at their supermarket, Prosperity at their fashion outlets, Happiness when you dine at the F&B outlets, Health obtained from their wellness outlets and longevity at their home and decors shops.

    6) Paradigm Mall Petaling Jaya

    Want to experience a sweet new year? This year, Paradigm Mall PJ is collaborating with our favourite lollipop, Chupa Chups, to transform the mall into a whole oriental garden featuring cherry blossom trees, beautiful lanterns, and a gallery of Chupa Chups best flavours! Not only that, but you can also participate in various interesting activities organised such as trapeze of longevity, lion dance, calligraphy contest, and many more!

    7) The Curve, Mutiara Damansara

    Enjoy your Chinese New Year with tons of performances and entertainment lined up for you at The Curve right in the middle of the auspicious bright red stage-like centrepiece. They will be entertaining you with WooHu Dance Musical performances, Prosperous Lucky Dip, Lion Dance, Music Band, Drum performances, God of Prosperity Walkabout, and Face Changing performance.

    1 Utama this year is bringing you Chinese New Year with their Regal Kingdom of Spring that features the 12 animals in the zodiac, all in gold with the tiger as the centrepiece. Invite “ong” into your year by spending it surrounded by gold in 1 Utama!

    9) Pavilion Bukit Jalil

    Want to feel like a royalty during the Chinese Dynasties? Pavilion Bukit Jalil have got you covered! For CNY, they have put up a magnificent traditional Chinese palace red in colour for you to not only gaze upon, but take pictures with too. It is surrounded by lanterns in all shapes and sizes along with cherry blossom trees. You can also walk through the Spring Blossom Tunnel, hop on the Lantern Carousel or get on board of the Lunar Train.

    10) Sunway Putra Mall

    Be welcomed by the auspicious red lanterns as you step into Sunway Putra Mall with their theme of #100Blessings that features a huge 福 ‘Fú character propped up at their Main Concourse. For even better photo opportunities, you can check out their Wonder-Fu Room where the whole room is wrapped with Chinese blessings phrases.

    11) Fahrenheit88

    This Chinese New year, witness the harmony of The Four Arts of qín (琴), qí (棋), shū (书), and huà (画); the aspirations for traditional Chinese scholars to master music, strategy, calligraphy and painting. Not only that you can take Instaworthy pictures with the guqin and traditional Chinese paintings, you can also play a game of chess and test your skills in Chinese calligraphy!

    12) Suria KLCC

    Again, if you just can’t get enough of feeling like a royalty from the ancient dynasty of China in Pavilion Bukit Jalil, then Suria KLCC is here to satiate that feeling. You can find a royal palace setting at the Centre Court that was set up thoroughly, with stone-carved imperial guardian lions placed before the entrance. The garden pavilion of the palace is decorated with traditional Chinese architecture, lotus pond, auspicious red lanterns, and pink cherry blossoms. Is there anything more intricate than this?

    After the controversy surrounding the CNY pagoda outside, it’s safe to assume that Suria KLCC did a splendid job in rectifying the colours and making it more festive than it was. Psst, the scene looks even better at night 😉

    13) Alamanda Shopping Centre

    If you think Suria KLCC is too far for you to pay a visit to, but you still would like to take Instaworthy pictures with a palace setting as detailed as the one in Suria KLCC, then, Alamanda has got the same Chinese Dynasty palace setting as well!

    14) Avenue K

    Avenue K has transformed its Atrium space into a spectacle of jixiang lun (‘auspicious wheels’). A life-sized pinwheel tower stands at 18 feet tall. In celebration of this year’s theme ‘Pinwheels of Good Fortune’, shoppers can find hundreds of pinwheels dotted in and around the Atrium set. As the auspicious Chinese saying goes, may the pinwheels blow away bad luck and bring about good fortune.

    Do mark your calendar as the Acrobatic Lion Dance by Kun Seng Keng Lion Dance Troupe and Wealth Ushering Ceremony will be happening on 8th February to usher in good fortune, happiness and longevity.

    15) The Gardens Mall

    The Gardens have never failed to wow us with their seasonal decorations, every single time. And for this Chinese New Year, it’s no different. They have put up intricately designed traditional arts and crafts in the auspicious prosperous colours, red and pink. So, don’t hesitate to take pictures and feel like a wealthy Tai Tai sitting on the round marble table surrounded by pink Cherry Blossoms!

    16) Mid Valley Megamall

    Another mall that has decided to go with the Chinese dynasty castle theme is Mid Valley Megamall. So, if you’re done feeling like a trophy wife to a wealthy tycoon at The Gardens, head over to Mid Valley to get a taste of an ancient China town!
