When exploring a new country, there is always something new to explore. Although Indonesia is similar to Malaysia in many aspects – food, language, culture – there are still some things that bring out the culture shock in us. From sedan cars to airport malls, Indonesia is sometimes still a mystery to us.

When an Indonesian TikTok lady by the name of Giannisa Ovie posted a video on TikTok, it immediately went viral. Her simple video is just of her comparing motorcycles on highways in Malaysia versus in Indonesia. The video garnered almost 246k views!

In the video, the TikToker said that whenever she is in Kuala Lumpur, she is still always surprised to see motorcycles riding freely on the highway. The 11-second video comes with captions explaining that back in her home country, motorcycles are not allowed to travel on the highways.

Scrolling through the comments section, many Indonesian fans shared that the reason why motorcycles are not allowed on highways is to avoid any unnecessary traffic jams. This is because, in Indonesia, the amount of motorcycles exceeds the number of cars, therefore if allowed, highways would create huge traffic.

The Muslim traveller then uploaded another video to share more about the predicament. In this said video, she posted actual footage of the capital city of Indonesia, Jakarta. The video was titled “Ocean of Motorcycles in Jakarta” – which shows the reality of what they have to face on a daily basis.

However, it’s not much different from Malaysia where we face traffic jams due to the high number of cars. Even finding parking is such a hassle. But you know what they say, the grass is greener on the other side!
