Besides visiting Penang for its wide variety of food choices, tourists also look forward for its leisure. To pump up the excitement, Sim Leisure Group (SLG) has recently teamed up with Etika Sdn Bhd (“Etika”) to launch the Pepsi ESCAPE Challenge in ESCAPE Penang.

The challenge is super simple – gather your group of friends and aim to be the fastest team to barrel down The World’s Longest Slide at an accelerated pace. Participants will even get to carry an action camera that will livestream and record their clocked duration on an electronic leaderboard near the end-point of the ride.

But first, riders will have to take a chairlift up to starting point at an elevation of 70 metres. While going down the world’s longest tube water slide, participants will get to meander through the lush foliage amidst the forested area of ESCAPE Penang. Those with the fastest times during each daily competition will not only win prizes, but also be in the running in the ultimate Pepsi Adrenaline Experience.

When we embarked on creating ESCAPE Penang, the objective was not to win records or awards, although all these are good byproducts. What we really wanted to do, however, was to create a truly different experience using a ‘low tech, high fun’ approach where fun is measured in ‘smiles per hour’. Today, the ESCAPE brand is one of the most pioneering developers of theme parks, answering the call from consumers for a different experience altogether. The ESCAPE concept strives to revive the re-discovery of childhood outdoor fun while promoting connection with nature,” said Mr. Sim Choo Kheng, Founder and Chief Executive of the Sim Leisure Group.

He added, “Since we opened the park, we have gone on to create new experiences for visitors to truly connect with nature. Among these include the recent opening of our Base Camp, where visitors can connect even more with the great outdoors under the stars – long after the park has closed.” Mr Sim was joined by YB Yeoh Soon Hin (Penang State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy) and Cedric Koh Ei Leon (Senior Vice President of Sales at Etika Sdn Bhd) during the launch.

As aforementioned, ESCAPE Penang had previously introduced Base Camp, a two-acre camping site, that comes with shower facilities, a BBQ pit, and Wi-Fi access for an enjoyable night’s stay. Besides visiting this theme park for its 2019 Guinness World Record attraction, visitors can look forward to more fun activities in the next few months.
