What Makes Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur The Go-To Place For Business Travelers

People travel for various reasons. As such, travelers are typically divided into 2 main groups – business and leisure. While leisure travelers (tourists) tend to place more emphasis on sight-seeing, seeking adventure and destination dining, business travelers are travelling for business meetings, conference participation, networking, and project work. Therefore, the needs and wants tend to differ.

For business travelers, it’s more than just free and fast Wi-Fi. They look for hotels that provide business-friendly features and amenities. While Kuala Lumpur has many city hotels that are situated at strategic locations, not many come close to what Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur has to offer for travelers, particularly corporate travelers.

    The newly-launched Premier Business Room

With 662 rooms including suites in its vicinity, Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur remodelled its rooms on the 16th floor into the Premier Business Room to ensure those travelling for work get the best experience during their stay. There are a total of 10 Premier Business Rooms with panoramic view of either the city or garden. Each room has a 65-inch Samsung Smart TV that allows you to unwind with your favourite shows on Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBO, and iQiyi.

    But more importantly…

It comes with a dedicated work station

Oh yes! The work desk has a 27-inch DELL monitor with a wireless Logitech Keyboard and mouse. Besides the Qi wireless charger and sufficient charging points for all your gadgets, you will also be please to find the Creative Stage Air V2 Soundbar and YETI Microphone in ensuring a seamless session during virtual/Zoom meetings throughout the day.

It’s understandable that sitting for hours can be uncomfortable (even if it’s an Ergonomic Office Chair). Thankfully, the adjustable height rolling desk allows you to stand and stretch your legs without interrupting your meetings, Zoom calls, or Vlog recordings.

P/s: Do note that the USB – C type is compatible with Windows laptop, MacBook & Microsoft Surface.

    Change of scenery

Tired of being in the room all day long? Head on over to the Horizon Club Lounge (at level 1) to enjoy extra services and benefits. This facility is only accessible for Horizon Club Executive Room and suite bookings only including complimentary use of a Horizon Club meeting room, private check-in and check-out, as well the following dining benefits:

    • Semi-buffet breakfast
    • All-day coffee, tea, chilled juices, and soft drinks
    • Daily afternoon tea
    • Evening cocktails and canapes

The Way to a Man’s Heart is through His Stomach

In the event that you need to take a client out for a meal, Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur has plenty of great options within its hotel. Shang Palace is not only famous for its delicious Peking duck and variety of Chinese cuisines, but the pork-free restaurant also has vegetarian options in its menu. If you’re looking for somewhere to chill, Arthur’s Bar & Grill is perfect for a small social gathering. This cosy venue offers light snacks, burgers and sandwiches, pasta, grilled beef, steaks and ribs.

Of course, one can never go wrong with Lemon Garden. Touted as one of the best buffets in the city, it’s easy to see why people keep coming back for more as the buffet spread includes famous international cuisines ranging from Chinese, Malaysian, Indian, Japanese, Italian and American. Our go-to favourites are usually the seafood spread, Chinese herbal soup, and sweet desserts. It’s also relaxing to look outside at the garden terrace and water fountain when we’re dining in during day time.

    Destress from work

Heard of the saying “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”? While work is top priority, having a balance lifestyle is also important for your overall health. In between work, you could always take an hour off to break a sweat at the Health Club (gym) or by spending a few minutes at the Steam and Sauna room. If you want to cool down, there’s the outdoor swimming pool or you could opt for a relaxing massage.
