Miss Hong Kong (香港小姐競選) is getting ready for its final stretch of the pageant and things are definitely heating up! As such, Regina Ho (何依婷), Miss Hong Kong 2017’s runner up, was recently called in to give her thoughts on the competition so far.
There’s no denying that this year’s pageant is unlike its previous years. From having various drops outs, including one finalist, Miss Hong Kong 2023 isn’t conventional in the slightest. Well, Regina Ho claims she will be breaking one more tradition in regards to the competition!
On 28th July (Friday), Miss Regina Ho made an appearance in TVB City to attend a sharing for “Miss Hong Kong 2023’s Election”. The event is an annual one as former beauty queens would give their opinions about the year’s competitors. But, Regina admitted there was one feature she disagreed with when it came to Miss Hong Kong participants airing their views.
As many others had done before, Regina happily shared her thoughts of the Miss Hong Kong 2023 pageant. She claimed that it was hard to pick a potential champion for this year’s pageant as the quality of this year’s participants was “average” and each budding beauty queen had individuality.
However, it came as a shock when she blatantly refused to pick a favourite. “In the past, I spoke to participants as their senior. You would find that they were unhappy because they read news saying one senior liked one (participant) and another senior favoured another,” she shared. “It’s easy to have negative emotions after (that) while asking yourself if anyone likes you.”
“Our times are changing, I will not talk about the person I have in mind, but instead, I will ask everyone to cheer (the girls on) together,” Regina ended firmly. It’s certainly wonderful to see Regina Ho doing what’s necessary to eradicate toxic culture in the pageant!
