Almost a month after Hong Kong singer Coco Lee (李玟)’s passing was confirmed, the much loved artist’s funeral was held yesterday (31st July). Although the funeral helped many find peace in Coco’s passing, much like the past month, her funeral did not proceed without drama.
Family, friends and fans showed up to pay their last respects. However, most fans weren’t happy to see Coco’s husband Bruce Rockowitz there, along with his daughters. The already strained atmosphere got worse after Coco Lee’s sister was heard accusing someone of “killing (her) sister“.
As per her obituary, published earlier, Coco’s family held her wake and funeral on Monday which was also live-streamed. Coco’s mother was not in attendance, allegedly adhering to the old saying of “the elderly do not send off the younger (白发人不送黑发人)”. However, both of Coco’s sisters, Nancy and Carol were there to receive their guests and to see their youngest sister off.
To the surprise of many, Bruce Rockowitz and his daughters were also spotted attending the funeral. They notably were not seated with the rest of Coco’s family, and some claim they did not speak to Coco’s family at all. A few also reported that during touching speeches made by family and friends, Bruce and his daughters looked unaffected, although some later alleged they saw Bruce wiping away a few tears.
During the memorial service, guests approached the sisters to speak with them. Although they seemed fine initially, the sisters suddenly burst into tears during a conversation, startling many. They were also heard shouting, “He killed my sister!” However, sound from the broadcast was cut after the outburst. But, the two sisters were seen still weeping on-screen.
Neither sister has commented on their outburst during the funeral and Bruce Rockowitz has been keeping his head down after Nancy Lee shared their disagreement with Bruce, and the fuss he allegedly caused over her inheritance.
Regardless, our hearts and condolences go out to Nancy and Carol and to all who knew and cherished Coco Lee. We sincerely hope they will be able to find peace in her passing. Watch the live stream here:
