Money makes the world go round, and for good reason. Well, if you’re an adult and earning less than RM100,000 annually, this is your lucky day!

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim recently announced the “Madani Economy: Empowering the People” framework for the country’s economic direction. As it turns out, the direction involves distributing RM100 in e-wallet credit to all adults in Malaysia!

Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, added that the aid, costing the government RM1 billion, is expected to benefit roughly 10 million people in the B40 and M40 income category. He also stated that the incentive was inspired by the success and impact of the previous e-wallet credit rollout programme, eBeliaRahmah.

Seeing the success of that e-wallet credit programme, the government agrees to offer a RM100 ewallet credit to adults,” Anwar reportedly said. He further clarified that those eligible for the programme are Malaysian citizens aged 21 and above, and earning RM100,000 and below annually.

Additionally, a RM300 special cash aid will be given to civil servants Grade 56 and below, while government pensioners, including army veterans, will be given RM200 in aid. Anwar later clarified that these are temporary measures as the government works on studying adjustments to civil servants’ salaries.

The “Madani Economy” aims to empower the government, NGOs, the private sector and Malaysians, Anwar explained. As such, ministries are expected to focus on strengthening the framework while tightening their subsidy mechanism. “We will continue helping those who are in need,” the PM promised.
