Apart from being an actress, Amelia Henderson is also the host for the Studio Sembang podcast where she had interviewed multiple celebrities like Ameera Khan, Jaclyn Victor, Janna Nick, and Julia Marin. Now the tables have turn where the hostess herself was a guest on singer-actor Alvin Chong’s R U OK podcast.
The two discussed a range of topics from their childhood and career to improving their Malay language over the years. At one point, the 28-year-old actress expressed her frustration at people who have passed negative remarks about her body. Here’s what she said:
In the latest episode of Alvin Chong’s podcast, Amelia Henderson revealed that she has received a ton of inappropriate comments from industry people while she was on sets for filming or photoshoots. “Do you know how many times a stylist has told me that my boobs are too small? It makes me so freaking furious,” she said.
According to the 27-year-old, this has happened on every set she’s been on where at least 1 person would make uncalled-for remarks about her physical body. “Somebody will comment that I should not be stuffing my bra because it’ll look flat and unattractive,” she elaborated. The “Nadi Luna” star mentioned that while she understands that some people’s intentions were good, she does not appreciate unsolicited remarks.
Apart from that, Amelia also spoke about how she’d often receive comments regarding religion. “I used to feel really upset when people talk about me exposing my ‘aurat’, especially when they said that I’m going to hell and my family will go to hell. With that being said, I do understand some of them have good intentions, they care about you, but at the same time I feel like we have to learn and accept that our ideas and beliefs are different,” she stated.
After being in the spotlight for so long, the starlet shared how she has kept her personal life private. She revealed how she would carefully choose what she would post on her social media. “If the content is work-related then I’ll post them publicly but if it’s really personal, I’ll just keep them to myself. I don’t put myself out there that much so nobody actually knows that much about me even though I live a very public-facing life,” she said.
While she still continues to keep her private life separate from work, she also mentioned that the reason she started her Studio Sembang podcast is so that her fans can get to know her better as Amelia rather than the characters she’s played.
