You’ve probably heard that mixing RON95 with RON97 is a big no-no – but that’s not necessarily the case because, as this man shared, it’s a-okay. However, he has a better trick that may help drivers to maintain their cars.
Known as Pak Cik Shell (Uncle Shell), Shairan Huzani is the managing director of Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd and Shell Timur Shd Bhd, so it’s safe to say that he knows a lot about fuel. In a recent Instagram post, he reacted to a video of a female driver mixing two different fuel types while pumping petrol.
While many were confused by her actions and even criticised her, Shairan explained that mixing fuel in the same tank is not a problem as long as diesel isn’t a part of the mix. However, he added that he has a better tip he follows to use two different types of fuel that could help maintain a cleaner engine. The content creator shared that after refilling using the RON95 fuel a couple of times, he’ll use it until the tank runs empty.
Then, he’ll fill up using only RON97 because not only does the fuel include a higher percentage of iso-octane – or RON (research octane number) – but it also has the added benefit of a cleaning agent. The public figure clarified that using a full tank of RON97 could help clean the engine and fuel injector more effectively.
Many netizens reacted to Pak Cik Shell’s video, thanking him for sharing a good tip. Some even said they’ve started following his method of mixing petrol fuel to clean their car for a better driving experience. Others also commended him for educating the public about fuel mixing rather than making fun of the female driver he reacted to.
What do you think about Pak Cik Shell’s tip? Would you start trying it out with your car?
