Boarding a plane is nerve-wracking for those with aerophobia (fear of flying) and it doesn’t help that several terrifying on-flight cases have recently made headlines. For instance, one man opened a plane’s emergency exit door mid-flight while another nearly succeeded in committing the same act.
While nothing dangerous as the previous incidents happened in a recent flight back to Kuala Lumpur, it was still alarming when ‘smoke’ started to fill up the cabin and many panicked. Here’s what went down:
Yesterday (Monday, 31st July), a netizen (who goes by the username Erni Bougas on TikTok) posted a video on her channel, showing a scary episode that took place on her domestic flight back to KL. In the video posted, you can see that the plane’s cabin was gradually being overwhelmed by some sort of fog or smoke at one point during the flight.
“It wasn’t much at first so we weren’t afraid but then the fog started to increase uncontrollably to the point where people just started coughing. I felt so worried for the children and elderly,” the TikTok user wrote. The passenger suspected that the fog was probably caused by the storm outside. It was understood that the strange ‘smoke’ was water vapour from the plane’s air humidifier.
Thankfully, nothing too serious happened and the aircraft managed to land safely at the airport. The TikToker expressed her gratitude to the cabin crew for handling the situation and keeping everyone calm. The video went viral not long after it was posted and many netizens expressed their concerns and how they would’ve reacted in that predicament.
Erni did not specify which airline she took for the domestic flight and at the time of writing, there have been no updates nor official statements from local airlines regarding the scary incident. Whatever the case, we’re glad that everyone is safe and sound.
How would you react in this situation?
