A teenager has been charged with the murder of his biological brother at their home near Kulim, according to the Magistrate’s Court here. The 17-year-old accused, who appeared in court and nodded in acknowledgment without entering a plea, was charged with fatally stabbing his 21-year-old brother in the heart on August 7 at around 10:10 am.
The court has adjourned the case until September 26, pending the receipt of the autopsy report and submission of relevant documents.
In a related development, the Magistrate’s Court fined the victim’s 26-year-old brother RM1,500 after he pleaded guilty to lodging a false report. The report claimed that the victim had died from a fall in a goat pen. The offense took place at the Kulim police station on August 7, at around 12:31 pm.
The 26-year-old brother was charged under Section 182 of the Penal Code for false reporting, which carries a punishment of up to six months imprisonment or a fine of up to RM2,000, or both.
The prosecution was represented by PDRM prosecuting officer Insp Mohammad Syafiq Safiei, while both accused were represented by K. Kiren Ram from the National Legal Aid Foundation.
