On December 19, a 6.2-magnitude earthquake hit Jishishan county in Gansu Province, China, prompting the country’s national commission for disaster prevention, reduction, and relief and Ministry of Emergency Management to activate a level-IV disaster relief emergency response.
An assessment team has been sent to the affected areas to evaluate the impact of the disaster and provide guidance for local relief efforts.
Together with the National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration, the two departments have provided disaster relief supplies to the province, including cotton tents, overcoats, quilts, and foldable beds.
