According to a report by the official news agency IRNA, a tragic incident occurred in the northern province of Alborz in Iran on Tuesday, resulting in two fatalities and 11 individuals sustaining injuries in an eight-vehicle collision.
The crash, which involved two trucks and six sedans, occurred on a freeway within the province, as stated by Ahmad Mahdavi, the head of Alborz’s medical emergency center, as reported by IRNA.
Following the accident, a response team comprising three ambulances and rescuers immediately rushed to the scene to assist the victims, who were subsequently transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, Mahdavi mentioned in his comments.
Concerns over road safety during the Nowruz holidays, which mark the onset of the Iranian New Year falling on March 20 this year, are evident as road accidents and traffic fatalities tend to surge during this period.
Speaking at an event in Tehran, Iranian traffic police chief Teymour Hosseini disclosed a startling statistic, stating that in the past five days, a total of 177 individuals lost their lives while 6,200 others sustained injuries due to road accidents across the country, IRNA relayed.
