3 killed in fire in Paris suburb

PARIS, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) — A fire broke out Saturday morning in an apartment building in the northern suburb of Paris, claiming the lives of three individuals and leaving 19 others injured, including four firefighters.

“This morning around 9:30 am (0730 GMT), a fierce fire erupted in Rue de la Commune de Paris in Ile-Saint-Denis, engulfing the residential building from the 9th to the 12th floor,” stated the Prefecture of Seine-Saint-Denis.

Speaking to local media, Jacques Paris, deputy mayor of Ile-Saint-Denis, revealed that the building had already experienced a fire in 2021 in the stairwell, fortunately without any casualties.
