Four people were killed in a small plane crash in Utah, authorities confirmed on Monday.
The crash occurred shortly after the plane took off from Canyonlands Regional Airport in Moab, Utah. The Grand County Sheriff’s Office stated that the plane went down in a remote area.
The Sheriff’s Office announced on its Facebook page that the pilot of the plane, North Dakota state Sen. Doug Larsen, his wife, and their two children did not survive the crash, which they described as tragic.
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) stated that the single-engine Piper PA-28 crashed at approximately 8:20 p.m. local time on Sunday.
North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum expressed his deep grief in a statement, mourning the loss of Sen. Doug Larsen, his wife, Amy, and their two young sons.
The FAA and the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will be conducting an investigation into the crash. The NTSB will spearhead the inquiry.
