KOTA KINABALU: The Madani Rakyat Programme (PMR) will complete its nationwide roadshow for this year in Sabah next week, with the government anticipating some 400,000 visitors to the carnival.

Called “Program Madani Rakyat 2024 Sayangi Sabah”, the event will be held over three days from Oct 18 at the Likas Sports Complex grounds here.

Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali hoped residents in Sabah will take advantage of this and flock to the event which will be open from 9am to 10pm daily.

So far, he said, the highest attendance recorded for the PMR was in Sarawak where over 300,000 people came.

“We hope the people in Sabah can surpass that figure, at least reaching to 400,000 visitors for the Sabah Zone PMR,” he said, during a site inspection at the Likas Sports Complex on Saturday (Oct 12).

“The Prime Minister will open the PMR Sayangi Sabah at 2.30pm on Oct 19, with the Chief Minister also attending to further make it a joyous occasion,” Armizan added.

The PMR this year started in Selangor for the PMR Middle Zone, followed by the Northern Zone in Perlis, Eastern Zone in Pahang, Southern Zone in Johor and Sarawak Zone.

The event is a continuation of the One-Year with the Madani Government programme which was held at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur last December.

Among others, the programme aims to give the community the opportunity to understand, see, and evaluate new policies and initiatives implemented by the Federal Government to improve the well-being of the people.

For the Sabah leg, Armizan said, the event was organised by the Prime Minister’s Office through the Project Acceleration and Coordination Unit (Pacu) in collaboration with his ministry as the lead and the state government.

He said two service components – People’s Touchpoint Service and People’s Well-being Initiative – will be available at the PMR to showcase the effectiveness of the Madani government in fulfilling the people’s welfare needs.

“Through this approach, various direct services and initiatives launched by the government could be delivered to the people through exhibitions and services provided by the ministries, departments as well as federal and state agencies.

“We have identified eight programmes and their implementing agencies to be involved in the Sabah PMR,” Armizan said.

He said they will also hold various main activities established by his ministry such as the Rahmah Madani Sales Programme (PJRM) and Buy Malaysian Goods Campaign, among others.

The Sabah PMR will involve the private sector as well, he added, which will showcase related programmes and services.
