In the eastern Bolivian department of Santa Cruz, a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a trailer truck resulted in at least five fatalities and approximately a dozen injuries on Friday, according to local police.
The accident took place when one of the vehicles veered into the opposite lane where the passenger bus was driving from Puerto Suarez to Santa Cruz de la Sierra, the department’s capital city, Robore Police commander Major Pedro Silva informed the media.
Silva noted that the collision was caused by lane invasion, with one of the vehicles being a high-tonnage cargo truck and the other being an interprovincial bus.
The driver of the truck was among those who died. The injured were transported to hospitals in Robore, with four individuals who sustained serious injuries being taken to Santa Cruz de la Sierra.
He stated that the accident was being investigated.
