KUALA LUMPUR: Some 57,608 individuals are actively holding Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) passes as of May 31, says the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry.

Its minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said this comprised 28,312 principal holders and 29,296 dependents.

He also assured that the newly implemented MM2H requirements will not negatively impact national security.

“Safety screenings by the police towards MM2H programme applicants are still maintained to ensure only those without a criminal record and proven not to be a national security threat are eligible to join,” he said in a written parliamentary reply dated Thursday (July 11).

Tiong said it is also compulsory for MM2H programme applicants to present a Certificate of Good Conduct.

He was responding to questions by Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin (PN-Masjid Tanah) and Wan Hassan Mohd Ramli (PN-Dungun) who asked about the MM2H programme and its security measures.
