Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil launched the 5G Rahmah package on Tuesday (Aug 29), which has prompted participating telecommunication (telco) providers to offer more affordable 5G data and device bundle plans to Malaysians. Telcos offering the Rahmah package include CelcomDigi, Maxis, YTL Communications, Unifi Mobile, and U Mobile. All plans have a minimum data allocation of 60GB and the pricing for bundled devices is capped at RM240.

All plans come with a two-year contract, and devices purchased as part of a bundle are eligible for a two-year warranty period. CelcomDigi offers the Xpax Postpaid 60 and Digi Postpaid 60 plans, both of which allow customers to choose between a Samsung Galaxy A14 5G (RM119) or an Honor 90 Lite 5G (RM239) as part of the bundle. Both plans offer 60GB of data and are priced at RM60 per month.

The Xpax option provides an unlimited quota for social media usage and YouTube viewing, while Digi users can upgrade their overall quota to 110GB for an additional RM10 per month. Maxis, on the other hand, offers its Rahmah package through Hotlink Postpaid. The plan is priced at RM70 per month but can be reduced to RM60 via a monthly rebate of RM10 for the first 24 months. This plan offers a total data quota of up to 105GB (70GB of 4G or 5G data plus 35GB of bonus 5G data).

However, the bundled devices offered by Maxis are priced higher at RM219 for the Samsung Galaxy A14 5G and RM239 for the Honor 90 Lite 5G. U Mobile’s Rahmah plan includes a generous 200GB data cap, free 5G roaming in Singapore, Indonesia, and Thailand, all priced at RM58 per month. The bundle plan offers the same Samsung and Honor devices, which are both priced at RM240.

Unifi Mobile also prices both devices at RM240 for the bundle, with the data plan itself priced at RM60, offering a quota of 60GB and a 10GB allocation for hotspots. YTL Communication’s Yes has a slightly different device offering, with a 5G Rahmah plan priced at RM35 per month, providing 100GB of data and the option to choose between a Vivo Y55+ 5G or ZTE Blade A73 5G, each priced at RM240.

All listed plans include unlimited calls to all networks. It should be noted that the first 100,000 B40 applicants will receive an additional RM120 device rebate. This means that if the telco prices the device lower, it could be fully covered by the rebate. The 5G Rahmah plans will be available until December 31 of this year.
