A total of 85 people, including 35 women, were apprehended during a raid that took place at a nightclub in George Town on Sunday, July 23. The raid was conducted by the George Town Narcotic Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) in Lebuh Noordin at approximately 2:15am, according to George Town OCPD Asst Comm Soffian Santong.
Following the raid, urine samples were collected from all those who were detained. Among the individuals, three people between the ages of 22 and 27 – two men and one woman – tested positive for tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and Benzo. After being remanded for a day for further investigation, all those who were detained were subsequently released on police bail.
In a statement, ACP Soffian Santong advised the public to abstain from engaging in any drug-related activities when visiting entertainment centers. The investigation into the case is being carried out under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
