KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) stated on Saturday (Aug 12) that it is not able to provide any comments on ongoing investigation cases until the conclusion of the respective cases. The commission also emphasized its obligation to assist other law enforcement agencies in enforcing the laws under their jurisdiction.
The MCMC affirmed that after taking the necessary actions required, the matters will be subject to investigation procedures, which may also involve other law enforcement agencies. In its statement, the commission reiterated that it remains determined in fulfilling its legal duty to ensure information integrity and societal harmony.
The MCMC explained that its function is governed by the provisions of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (CMA 1998). This includes taking the appropriate actions to prevent the commission or attempted commission of any offenses under the written laws of Malaysia.
