KUALA LUMPUR: On Monday (Oct 16), an emergency landing was carried out by an Air Force Beechcraft B200T at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang. The aircraft was conducting flight training with four crew members on board. Departing from the Subang Air Force base around 11.27am, the pilot was forced to execute the emergency landing at approximately 1pm.
“Fortunately, all crew members are safe and without any injuries,” said the Air Force in a statement on Monday. They also mentioned that an investigation team will be formed to determine the cause of the incident.
Meanwhile, Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) released a statement stating that the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) issued a notice to temporarily close the affected runway from 1.15pm to 4.15pm on Monday. The closure was necessary to remove the skidded aircraft.
“We’re pleased to inform that no one was injured during this incident,” tweeted MAHB. They also confirmed that the terminal was unaffected and remained open.
A video capturing the emergency landing went viral on social media earlier. The footage showed the aircraft skidding off the runway due to a failure to extend one of its landing gears.
