JOHOR BARU: Six-year-old Albertine Leo Jia Hui is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Selangor, says Ling Tian Soon.

The Johor health and environment committee chairman added that the family was also asking for some space for them to recover from this experience and are grateful for the swift action of the police and the concern given by the public on this matter.

“She is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Selangor; we will share updates about her and her family later. For now, let them recover first and give them some space.

“At the same time, we also want to give our highest appreciation and thanks to the police for being able to solve this case within 48 hours; they have worked very efficiently and professionally in this case.

“We also acknowledge the effort of all Malaysians, regardless of race and religion, who have come together to help to look for this child,” he said when contacted here on Tuesday (July 23).

Ling added that he also hoped that the public would cooperate with the police to not create any speculation that would disturb the investigation into this case.

“Let the police handle this case, and let’s not create any speculation,” he said.

Meanwhile, Skudai assemblyman Marina Ibrahim said that she hopes that this case would served as a reminder for all parents out there to always be extra careful when going out in public, especially to places that have a lot of people.

“We do not know when something like this will happen, so it is better to be vigilant and extra careful when going out in public or shopping malls.

“Because there are cases where some parents are too busy looking at their phones while their children are left wondering left and right behind them, then panic when their child is nowhere to be seen.

“I have also read a report on the unsolved cases of missing children in the country, which is quite worrying, and I hope that parents will play a more proactive role in ensuring the safety of their children,” she said.

Meanwhile, Endau assemblyman Alwiyah Talib said that social media has played a huge role in helping the public become aware of the child’s disapperance, which had led to her being found.

“Even our Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi used his social media account to ask for help finding this child.

“But the main thing that we can be proud of is that every Malaysian has come together and shared the information on their social media,” she said, adding that the police have also done a great job in solving this case quickly.

Earlier, Onn Hafiz expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the police for their dedicated efforts in the rescue of six-year-old Albertine.

“I also wish to thank all Malaysians who provided information and assistance during this operation,” he said in a statement on Facebook.

“I appeal to everyone to avoid making any speculations that could interfere with the investigation. May justice be served and this case be resolved fairly and justly,” he added.

Earlier, Albertine, who went missing during a Bon Odori event here on Saturday (July 20), was found safe at a hotel in Batang Kali, Selangor.
