KUALA LUMPUR: The Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) director, Comm Datuk Seri Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf, has reported that commercial crime cases have already caused losses of over RM1.9bil this year as the end approaches, with a total of 37,651 investigation papers opened from January to Nov 26, 2023.
He stated, “Last week alone, we opened 828 investigation papers on various commercial crimes, with 83.6% of these cases related to online fraud.”
Comm Datuk Seri Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf cautioned the public to be vigilant in their online dealings and urged them to check the police’s SemakMule website at https://semakmule.rmp.gov.my for bank accounts or phone numbers associated with previous crimes.
