At the women’s World Cup slalom race in Levi, Finland, Petra Vlhova of Slovakia dominated, finishing more than a second ahead of her competitors. Meanwhile, American favorite Mikaela Shiffrin came in fourth.
Vlhova conquered the slopes at the Lapland ski resort, securing a victory 1.41 seconds ahead of Lena Duerr from Germany with a total time of one minute 50.59 seconds.
The third position was claimed by Austria’s Katharina Liensberger, finishing 1.55 seconds behind Vlhova.
The 28-year-old Vlhova took the lead in the first run and increased it in the second, finding her rhythm and building momentum as she descended.
Shiffrin, who had recently experienced a practice run fall, was unable to keep up the pace in the course’s final stretch and ultimately trailed Vlhova by 1.70 seconds.
However, the men’s downhill race in Zermatt-Cervinia, located on the border between Switzerland and Italy, was cancelled due to heavy snowfall and winds.
