The concessionaire ANIH Bhd has issued a proposed Travel Time Advisory (TTA) to provide guidance to users of the KL-Karak Highway (KLK) and East Coast Expressway Phase 1 (LPT1) during the Chinese New Year (CNY) celebration.

The advisory aims to help ease traffic congestion and make journeys more efficient and comfortable from today until Feb 13.

An increase in traffic to the East Coast is expected from Thursday evening until Saturday.

Heavy traffic heading westbound is anticipated on Feb 12 and 13. The projected traffic volume over the six days is 1,054,000 vehicles on the KL-Karak Highway (KLK) and 423,000 vehicles on the East Coast Expressway Phase 1 (LPT1).

This marks a 75% increase in traffic on the KLK and a 57% increase on the LPT1 compared to the average daily traffic.

ANIH Bhd CEO Imran Gulcharan Abdullah stated, “In anticipation of increased traffic, ANIH Berhad has made preparations for toll operations, traffic management, highway patrols, and facility management.”

Additionally, ANIH Bhd has increased personnel by 20%, including traffic control teams for patrol and assistance purposes.

Furthermore, 156 RELA members have been deployed to manage and control traffic flow at toll plazas, rest stops, and laybys, which are also expected to be congested.

Imran explained, “The TTA provided can be referenced on our official social media for travel planning.” He also distributed CNY joy packs to highway users at the Gombak Toll Plaza.

The concessionaire’s corporate social responsibility initiative aims to enhance the festive atmosphere while ensuring essential safety guidance for highway users during this extended holiday period. Senior management provides on-ground information to emphasize the commitment to prioritizing user safety.

Highway users are reminded to prioritize safety and practice responsible driving. They are encouraged to stop at Rest Services Areas (RSA) or laybys when necessary and adhere to road signs, speed limits, and instructions from highway personnel to ensure the safety and comfort of all.

For up-to-date information, road users are encouraged to follow the official Facebook account @Lebuhraya Pantai Timur and X (Twitter) account @LPTTrafik, as well as the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM), @llmtrafik.
